A theme wedding is my favorite. They can really be a blast. I just went to one of the best weddings and receptions I’ve ever attended. The ceremony and reception was done in country western.
A quaint little country church was the location of the wedding ceremony. It was really quite lovely with lots of flowers and candles around the altar, and satin bows and ribbons connected at the end of the pews. The baby blue dresses that the bridesmaids and flower girl wore were simply gorgeous, and the flowered hair pieces were a lovely added touch. The groomsmen and ring boy looked quite handsome in their tuxes with little white boutonnieres in their lapels. But all eyes were focused on the elegant bride and groom. They were a picure perfect couple. After the ceremony the bride and groom left the church in a horse drawn buggy.
Since they chose a ranch to buy as their first home, they thought that would be the perfect place to hold the reception. It was a lovely home with a couple of acres and a barn for their horses they planned on having. I would have loved to have started my married life out in a place like this.
She did a fantastic job arranging her reception. It was absolutely perfect. Wild flowers centered on each table really gave it that down home look. She did a fantastic job, not just with the décor, but also the themed wedding favors. White christmas lights mixed in with a few lanterns completely encircled the picnic tables. With the décor consisting of hay bales and corn stalks on the barn doors, this really gave the perfect appearance of a country reception. They made sure there were plenty of things the kids would enjoy as well as the adults. Some of the kids were bobbing for apples while others were into a wild game of horse shoes, and still others were trying their hand at line dancing. It was great fun for everyone.
The wedding cake was spectacular and the wedding topper had us all in stitches. It was the perfect novelty topper. The western themed champagne flutes were really unique. There were also adorable little cowboy hats were the place card holders for every guest. I thought that was very creative.
There were so many delicious dishes served at the reception. They grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, mostly for the kids, and steaks, ribs, and chicken for the adults, with choice of salads and vegetables. It was one heck of a cookout. Lots of music, dancing, games and food to last all evening. We all had a wonderful time at the country western themed party.
Another fun reception is a beach party reception. The beauty of a beach wedding is just amazing. You can feel the romance in the air as the sun sets on the horizon. It’s like a romantic novel with the crashing of waves and the warm gentle breeze all around you. On my wedding day, I want to have a wedding ceremony just like this one.
The bridesmaids wore gorgeous summer dresses and the groomsmen wore drawstring pants and linen shirts. She made a lovely bride in her ocean blue flowing crepe dress, and he was such a handsome groom in his white linen beach outfit. This was definitely a dream come true wedding ceremony.
Their reception was more than elegant too. All the tables were decorated with the beach theme in mind. She had a wonderful idea for centerpieces, with seashells, starfish and orchids surrounding two large white candles in a tray of sand. Her crystal champagne glasses had beach themed stems and her place card holders were little seashells.
Her beach décor was fabulous and she had everything from a beach cake topper to theme wedding invitations that worked perfectly. This was truly a wedding and reception to remember.

I Love Themed Favors!
Cheap sweet sixteen favors for my daughter!
I needed some fresh ideas for my daughters sixteenth birthday party. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So, I decided to check it out. I was really surprised at what super favors and table decorations they had. I found a lot of nice stuff I can use for her party. I was able to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 as one of the snacks for her party with the cookie cutters I ordered.
Before making any plans, I got her opinion on what she wanted for her party, and it was a party at the roller rink with all the girls sleeping over. I then made reservations at the roller rink in town. I sent all of her girl friends special party invitations. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. Refreshments, pizza and hot dogs were also part of the package, and didn’t cost very much at all. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I decorated the house with birthday accessories, laid out snacks and put my sweet 16 cookies, I made, on the tables.
When I was searching the web for birthday ideas, I ordered a few other things besides the cookie cutters. Since I saved money on the roller rink deal, I decided it would be nice to get the girls a few sweet sixteen favors. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. Everyone got a camera before we went to the roller rink party, but no one got an album until later that evening. I’m glad they only took a few pictures at the skating rink, so they would be able to take pictures of the sleepover too.
Another party favor was a cosmetic bag with their first initial printed on the front. With the cosmetic bags I bought manicure sets and little purse mirrors to go with it. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. At home, her sweet sixteen party favor and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. They turned on some of their music and danced around for a while, then they took out their manicure sets and started to work on nails, and give make overs to each other. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.
When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. They actually made it through the first two movies before they started nodded off, one by one. Soon, the only ones awake were me and my daughter, but she didn’t last much longer. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.
The next morning the girls were up before I was and had already had their breakfast and cleaned up from last nights festivities. It was really sweet of the girls to do that. They hung around with my daughter for a couple of hours, then the kids started heading for home. They told me they had a super time and they thought the sweet sixteen ideas were really cool. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.
